REAL MADRID NEWS

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ruled out a January move for David de Gea and hinted that he expects the goalkeeper to sign a new deal at Manchester United.
De Gea has not started any of the club's six matches this season and was set for a move to Madrid, only for it to dramatically collapse on deadline day.
When an offer was finally made and accepted, paperwork was not filed in time to complete the move - and the club's chief has now ruled out making another bid when the transfer window reopens.

MAN UTD NEWS

De Gea named in Man Utd's Champions League squad

David De Gea has been named in Manchester United's squad for the Champions League group stages following the collapse of his move to Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper was set to move to the Primera Division club on transfer deadline day in Spain, with United agreeing to a £29 million fee plus the signing of Keylor Navas, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.

Both United and Real have issued statements blaming each other for the farcical manner in which the transfer failed, but Louis van Gaal appears ready to move on, naming De Gea in his squad for the European competition.   Victor Valdes, however, is left out of the selection, with summer signing Sergio Romero and 22-year-old Sam Johnstone chosen to provide competition for De Gea.

Elsewhere, deadline day buy Anthony Martial will compete with Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as the club's out-and-out strikers, with Memphis Depay and Juan Mata also selected.
Van Gaal has also handed opportunities to a number of young players, with Guillermo Varela, Paddy McNair, Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira all named in the squad.

MAN CITY SIGNS DE BRUYNE

The Belgium international has become the second most expensive player in British football history after sealing a move which will cost the Premier League club upwards of £55m
Manchester City have completed the signing of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg on a six-year deal.

The Belgium international was voted Player of the Year for 2014-15 in Germany after a stellar season for the Bundesliga runners-up.

His performances were so impressive that City kept up their pursuit throughout the summer and have now broken their transfer record with a deal Goal understands is worth more than £55 million, including add-ons.

City had been in talks with their German counterparts for much of the transfer window and for weeks their efforts to bring the former Chelsea man back to England were resisted.

Wolfsburg CEO Klaus Allofs kept up a defiant public stance until this past week, when City's resolve to do a deal shone through and they agreed to pay the second highest transfer fee in British football history.Manuel Pellegrini added: "We are very happy to have added Kevin to our team and I have no doubt that he will be a big success on his return to the Premier League.

"It takes a special footballer to improve our squad and I have no doubt that Kevin is certainly one of those – he has all of the mental, physical, tactical and technical attributes required to fit straight in.

"We like to play attractive, attacking football and bringing in a player like De Bruyne will only aid us as we fight on four fronts."

The 24-year-old enjoyed a glittering 18-month spell with Wolfsburg after being sold by Chelsea at the start of 2014 having fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho, returning to Germany after a loan spell at Werder.

This is the second time this summer that City have broken their transfer record after Raheem Sterling was recruited from Liverpool in a deal that could rise to £49m.

The Belgium playmaker now becomes the second most expensive player in the British game, behind Angel Di Maria, who joined Manchester United for £59.7m last summer.
